If Sarah Palin can do for the economy what she’s done for Tina Fey and television ratings, then she just might just have won our vote.

Juuust kidding!

But, Sexy Sarah has proven to be a bit of a lucky charm for Tina Fey, whose hilarious portrayal of the Little Lady from Alaska not only bolstered SNL ratings, but has drawn people back to her own Emmy award-winning 30 Rock.

And, it’s gotten the show some new eyeballs too!

Thursday night’s premiere debuted to 8.5 million viewers, 21% more than last year’s debut. And with a guest appearance from Oprah Winfrey scheduled for next week’s show, ratings are sure to continue to climb.

The rest of the NBC family landed the network in third place, with ratings for My Name is Earl dropping slightly, while Kath & Kim and ER experienced slight raises.

CBS won the ratings race despite mild drops in their strongest shows, such as Survivor (7%), CSI (17%), and Eleventh Hour (6%).

In second place ABC experienced ratings jumps with Grey’s Anatomy and Life on Mars, with a slight drop in Ugly Betty’s viewership, despite the Lindsay Scanadal.

Fox found itself in fourth place while the CW rounded things out with a fifth place finish.
